<p>HP India, on Thursday announced the launch of its `business rugged&#8217; HP Elite Noteboook PC series designed to withstand dust, vibration, altitude, and high temperature for the professional who travels more.</p>

<p>The series comprising six business notebooks&#8211;2530p, 2730pm 6930p, 8530p, 8730 w and 8530w&#8211;encompassing the professional (p) and mobile workstation (w) class notebook series, brings alive minimalist design and maximum durability.</p>
<p>HP has incorporated the hardware and software features to deliver dependable business notebook that delivers enhanced security and improve ease of use in a stylish new package.</p>
<p>The shock-resistant hard drive and spill resistant keyboards helps protect confidential data residing in the notebooks againt bumps, drops and spills.Frequent travelers can take the advantage of the optional ultra slim battery accessory that offers upto 15 combined hours of battery life. The notebook is a brushed anodized aluminum exterior casing, combined with magnesium alloy chassis, which ensures the notebook continues to look new. The series incorporates Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors, solid state hard drives and the latest Qualcomm&#8217;s Gobi technology. The series is available within a price range of Rs 75,000 to Rs one lakh plus taxes.</p>

<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-109" style="margin: 2px;" title="hp_logo" src="http://www.knolindia.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/hp_logo.jpg" alt="HP official logo" width="129" height="105" />Hewlett-Packard Co. said on Monday that it plans to slash 8% that is 24,600 jobs over the next three years, seeking to realize savings from its recent acquisition of Electronic Data Systems Corp (EDS). Nearly half of the job reductions will take place in the United States, the Palo Alto, California-based company said. EDS was headquartered in Plano, Texas, near Dallas.</p>
<p>HP estimated $1.8 billion in annual cost savings once the cost-cutting program is completed. Company said the vast majority of the cuts would focus on eliminating overlapping jobs at EDS in corporate functions such as legal, accounting, IT and HR.</p>
<p>Work-force reduction plans will vary by country, based on local legal requirements and consultation with works councils and employee representatives, HP said.  The company will provide employees affected by this restructuring program with severance packages, counseling and job placement services.</p>
<p><span id="mn_Global"><span id="mn_Article">HP already employed more than 178,000 people worldwide and added 142,000 more with the EDS acquisition. The two companies combined had more than $38 billion in revenue from technology services last year.</span></span></p>
