15th Lok Sabha now have 79 ministers

Today 59 new ministers are included in the council and this makes Team Manmohan’s total count to 79, just two less of the upper ceiling of 81. The swearing-in takes place at 1130 hrs IST. In the first round of swearing-in 19 ministers along with Manmohan Singh had been sworn in on May 22.

Microsoft has laid off 1 per cent of its India workforce on May 5. This move is part of the global software maker’s second wave of layoffs. Microsoft India has sent notices to its employees in Bangalore and Hyderabad that it would be eliminating their jobs.

BSE SENSEX above 12K

At 12:23 hours IST, the 30-share BSE SENSEX touched 12,000 mark. Metal, realty, technology, banking, capital goods and FMCG were witnessing buying interest. Midcaps and Smallcaps also surged but the benchmark indices outperformed the broader indices.
